The Classic Fondant Icing Covered Wedding Cake

Fondant wedding cakes have always been the cake of choice for wedding couples that desire the classic, elegant traditional wedding cake.

Fondant wedding cakes make use of the fondant icing which is a sugar-based icing. The fondant icing is rolled out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch, then draped over the cake base, smoothed out and pressed into place and finally, trimmed to perfectly cover the cake.

The unique ability of the icing to solidify is ideal in creating imposing cake structures. Once the icing has dried, the cake layers can be stacked one on top of the other with minimal disruption to the icing. This makes the cake height and structure limited only by the strength of the cake base to support the cake and the ability of the baker and assistants to carry and set-up the cake at the reception.

When it comes to decorating the fondant cake, couples are limited only by their imagination. The fondant wedding cake is very versatile capable of incorporating very intricate decoration, conservative or whimsical. It also easily blends with a variety of flower arrangements giving it a simple quiet elegance.

No matter how it is mixed and matched, the impeccable satiny smooth surface of the fondant covered wedding cake exudes a regal stature making it standout in every reception.
